Hutchison Ports Thailand. Our History.
Hard work and mutually beneficial cooperation with our Thai colleagues has led Hutchison Ports Thailand to become the leading terminal port operator at Laem Chabang Port.
Our commitment to continued investment into both facilities and people have unlocked new opportunities and enabled HPT to grow alongside Thailand.
Growing Together
Our story begins in 2006, with the formation of Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT), which was set up to consolidate the management of Hutchison Ports’ terminal operations companies at Laem Chabang Port. These include both Thai Laemchabang Terminal Co., Ltd. (TLT), and Hutchison Laemchabang Terminal Limited (HLT).
The facilities we’ve developed at Laem Chabang Port are conveniently located on the doorstep of the Rayong and Laem Chabang industrial and manufacturing zones, home to some of the country’s largest producers and manufacturers.
Thanks to excellent road and rail connections to other industrial areas of Thailand, our terminals are able to facilitate the swift and efficient movement of cargo to and from the country’s hinterland.
HPT is committed to facilitating the growth of Thailand’s containerised cargo volumes and the nation’s modernization by supporting the economy of the country and the government’s infrastructure plans for the Eastern Economic Corridor Development Project (EEC); with the ultimate goal of assisting Laem Chabang Port in achieving its vision of becoming Thailand’s gateway port and logistics hub for ASEAN.
Thai Laemchabang Terminal Co., Ltd. (TLT)
Since 2002, TLT has been operating at terminal A2, a multipurpose terminal located at Basin 1 of Laem Chabang Port. The terminal includes a 400 metre quay equipped with container and general cargo handling equipment and facilities.
Hutchison Laemchabang Terminal Limited (HLT)
HLT operates one multipurpose terminal at Basin 1 (A3) and five container terminals at Basin 2 (C1, C2, D1, D2 and D3) of Laem Chabang Port. A3 officially commenced operations in 2006. A3 and A2 share a combined quay length of 750 metres, which can simultaneously handle either two 6,500-TEU container vessels or one 6,500-TEU container vessel and two feeder vessels. C1, C2, D1, D2 and D3 are designed to handle some of the largest vessels currently in operation. C1 and C2 have been operating since 2007, while construction of D1, D2 and D3 began in 2016, is currently underway.
