The competition, which garnered 56 submissions, involved crafting new objects out of reused materials. It aimed to encourage the practices of recycling and upcycling as means of waste minimization to achieve long-term sustainability. As of July 11, 2022, Hutchison Ports Thailand’s six autonomous trucks operating at Terminal D successfully handled over 100,000 moves of containers – a milestone that reflects the group’s commitment to sustainable port development. Autonomous trucks offer a safe and environment-friendly container-handling solution by using electric power, which is part of the group’s Zero-Emission policy.

On 24 June 2022, Hutchison Ports Thailand received delivery of a further four Super Post-Panamax ship-to-shore cranes and eight rubber-tyred gantry cranes at Terminal D, Laem Chabang Port, all of which are remote-controlled and electrically operated. These new cranes will help increase capacity and reduce carbon emissions at the terminal.
