Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT) Welcomes Deputy Minister of Transport; Advancing the ‘Smart Terminal’ with AI Technology and Clean Energy!
On 12 October 2026, HPT’s executive team—led by Mr. Stephen Ashworth, Managing Director; Mr. Anat Machima, Chief Operating Officer; and Mr. Zhao Bin, Assistant General Manager—welcomed Mr. Sanphet Bunyamanee, Deputy Minister of Transport, and his delegation to observe operations at Terminal D, Laem Chabang Port, Chonburi Province.
During the visit, HPT showcased its port automation innovations designed to transform Thailand’s logistics sector. Backed by an investment of over 20 billion baht, these initiatives support the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) project while prioritizing environmental sustainability:
AI & Driverless Technology: Demonstrating autonomous trucks operating seamlessly alongside remote-controlled quay cranes and rubber-tyred gantry cranes to ensure high precision and safety.
Towards Net Zero (2050): Introducing electric trucks equipped with fast-charging systems and smart battery-swapping stations—capable of swapping batteries in just 5 minutes—to rapidly recharge vehicles and significantly reduce pollution within the port area.
24-Hour Digital Platform: Utilizing the nGen system and UBI application, allowing customers to easily track container statuses and process electronic transactions (e-DO, e-Billing, and e-Tax) around the clock.
HPT is delighted and grateful to the Ministry of Transport for supporting these innovative developments, which aim to reduce logistics time and costs while sustainably enhancing Thailand’s long-term competitiveness!
