Today, 3 mega vessels from different shipping alliances were berthed at our Terminal D at Laem Chabang Port for the first time. Vessel LOAs ranged from 366 – 399M. In the coming months, Terminal D will receive delivery of a further batch of 4 supper post panamax ship-to-shore cranes and 8 rubber tyred yard cranes, all electrically powered.
This will enable us to improve productivity and overall service levels for our shipping line customers and port users.
On the 10th of May 2024, Hutchison Ports Thailand management team welcomed the maiden call of MV. Cosco Excellence, the new service “Trans-Pacific Trade – East Coast Express 1 or ECX1” of alliance partners between OOCL, Cosco, CMA and Evergreen at Terminal D, Laem Chabang Port.
This service will provide a fast rotation: Laem Chabang – Cai Mep – Hong Kong – Yantian – Xiamen – Shanghai – Panama Canal – New York – Savannah – Charleston – Suez Canal – Laem Chabang.
On the 7th of May 2024, Mr. Stephen Ashworth, Managing Director, and Mr. Anat Machima, Chief Operating Officer and Mr. Thanakrit Prasontawong, Corporate Affairs Manager of Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT), contributed to the Foundation for the Protection of Khao Yai National Park. The donation was received by General Surayud Chulanont, the former Prime Minister of Thailand and president of the foundation.
These funds will be allocated towards various projects aimed at conserving the forest and wildlife within the national park. Additionally, the donation will support activities under the “NEXT GEN NEW WORLD” project organized by the Foundation for the Protection of Khao Yai National Park, an initiative in which HPT staff participated in February 2024.
On the 3rd of May 2024, Mr. Stephen Ashworth, Managing Director, Mr. Anat Machima, Chief Operating Officer of Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT), represented HPT in sponsoring the purchase of medical equipment for Laem Chabang Hospital in Chonburi Province. This donation will be directed towards procuring critical patient support equipment.
Dr. Ramase Ampaipis, Director of Laem Chabang Hospital, Dr. Jirasak Jirakulsawas, Deputy Director of Laem Chabang Hospital, and Mrs. Kanopnate Sangprasit Registered Nurse, Professional Level received the support fund at Laem Chabang Hospital.
HPT has been steadfast in supporting the Laem Chabang Hospital Fund, aiming to enhance the well-being of the community near the Laem Chabang port for the past four years. The company has contributed funds exceeding one million baht for the purchase of comprehensive medical equipment to treat critically ill patients, as well as to combat epidemic outbreaks. This funding support for hospitals in nearby communities aligns with our sustainable business approach, focusing on fostering community growth alongside the company’s growth.
On 22 February 2024, Mr. Stephen Ashworth, Managing Director, Hutchison Ports Thailand, delivered a presentation on the topic of sustainable port development at the Faculty of International Maritime Studies at Kasetsart University, Sriracha Campus. The lecture and Q&A session was attended by over 100 participants including teachers and third-year students.
On 29th November 2023, Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT) and the Faculty of International Maritime Studies, Kasetsart University, Sriracha Campus (IMS, KU), continued the Go Green project for the 3rd year. They organized an award ceremony for students, company employees, and their children who participated in the drawing competition under the theme ‘Green Port.’ Additionally, they held an award ceremony for the Waste Management activity, promoting the concept of Upcycling to pass on sustainable ideas to the new generation.
Led by Mr. Anat Machima, Chief Operating Officer of Hutchison Ports Thailand, Asst. Prof. Sarinya Sanitwong Na Ayutthaya, Dean of Faculty Of International Maritime Studies, and Asst. Prof. Chatnugrob Sangsawang, Vice Dean For Organization Development, had the honor of presenting awards at this event. The participants submitted a total of 64 drawings for the ‘Green Port’ competition and 37 Upcycled creations.”
On the 2nd of November 2023, the management team of Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT)—led by Mr. Stephen Ashworth, Managing Director- Thailand & South East Asia, Hutchison Ports and Mr. Anat Machima, Chief Operating Officer— welcomed Ms. Manaporn Charoensri, Deputy Minister of Transport, and the delegation at Terminal D, Laem Chabang Port.
During their visit, Mr. Anat presented the advanced and sustainable technologies utilized at Laem Chabang’s Terminal D, including remote-controlled container handling equipment, autonomous trucks, and electrically powered trucks. The presentation was held at the Visitor Center, Terminal D, Laem Chabang Port.
On the 29th of September 2023, Mr. Stephen Ashworth, Managing Director of Thailand & South East Asia, Hutchison Ports together with its staff celebrated their achievement of the 40 million TEUs servicing through Hutchison Ports Thailand since commencing their operation in 2002.
On this occasion, Mr. Ashworth gave an encouraging speech and showed his gratitude to the employees for their commitment and hard work toward the success. Aiming for the new milestone of 50 million TEUs, HPT has also set a goal to drive sustainable growth and implement cutting-edge, environmentally friendly technology.
On the 22nd of August 2023, Mr. Stephen Ashworth, Managing Director, and Mr. Anat Machima, Chief Operating Officer of Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT), sponsored the purchase of medical equipment for Laem Chabang Hospital in Chonburi Province.
The donation included electronic tourniquets and tool boilers, aimed at ensuring that the hospital is well-equipped to provide quality care to its patients.
The contribution was warmly received by Dr. Ramase Ampaipis, Director, and Dr. Jirasak Jirakulsawas, Deputy Director and Perioperative Nurses on behalf of Laem Chabang Hospital.

On the 15th of August 2023, Stephen Ashworth, Managing Director, and Anat Machima, Chief Operating Officer of Hutchison Ports Thailand made a donation to the Foundation for the Protection of Khao Yai National Park.
The donation was received by former Prime Minister of Thailand, General Surayud Chulanont who is the president of the foundation.
The donation will go towards funding the protection of the forest and wild animals in the national park.
