On 24 June 2022, Hutchison Ports Thailand received delivery of a further four Super Post-Panamax ship-to-shore cranes and eight rubber-tyred gantry cranes at Terminal D,

Laem Chabang Port, all of which are remote-controlled and electrically operated. These new cranes will help increase capacity and reduce carbon emissions at the terminal.

On 24th May  2022; Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT), Led by Mr. Stephen Ashworth, Managing Director, along with executives and staff of HPT, together with Assistant Professor Dr. Sarinya Sanitwong Na Ayutthaya, Dean, the executives and students of the Faculty of International Maritime Studies, Kasetsart University Sriracha Campus, held the “Go Green 2022” environmental activity to honor King Rama the 10th.

The CSR activity involved in planting over 100 yellow stars, yellow trumpet bushes, and Oleander at the Faculty of International Maritime Studies, Kasetsart University, Sriracha Campus.

The activity was part of HPT’s environmental program, which aimed to reduce the overall carbon footprint and create more green spaces to improve the diversity of the university’s ecosystem.

On 17 May 2022, HPT’s employees held an event to celebrate the handling of its 35 millionth TEU of containers since the commencement of operations in 2002.

Mr. Stephen Ashworth, Managing Director, Thailand & South East Asia, congratulated all the employees for reaching this significant milestone and took the opportunity to thank HPT’s customers, the Port Authority of Thailand and other port users for their support over the years.

On March 25, 2022, Mr. Stephen Ashworth, Managing Director of Thailand & South East Asia, Hutchison Ports, presided over the signing ceremony for the construction of the remaining phases of Terminal D (Phase 2) together with Mr. Polpat Karnasuta, Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nawarat Patanakarn Public Company Limited. The management teams of both companies were also present at the signing ceremony at the Terminal D Visitor Centre. Terminal D Phase 2 will comprise additional stacking area for dry and reefer containers, automated trucking gates, a new engineering workshop and an administration building. Construction will commence in April 2022 and will be completed within 3 years. On full completion, Terminal D will have a handling capacity of 3.5 million TEU and will be equipped with a fleet of autonomous and electric trucks together with 17 super post panamax ship to shore cranes and 43 rubber tyred yard cranes, all remote control and electrically operated. Hutchison Ports Thailand’s Terminal D is the world’s first dual-traffic container terminal simultaneously operating with autonomous and conventional trucks.

On March 9, 2022, Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT) welcomed the media to Terminal D, Laem Chabang Port, to update them on HPT’s sustainability initiatives, 2021 business performance and expansion plans.

During the event, Mr. Stephen Ashworth, Managing Director of Thailand & South East Asia, Hutchison Ports and Mr. Anat Machima, Chief Operating Officer of Hutchison Ports Thailand, shared their insights with the media.

The event ended with a Q&A session and a tour of Terminal D, which provided the media with the opportunity to observe the operations of our remote control cranes and autonomous trucks. Hutchison Ports Thailand’s Terminal D is the first dual traffic mode container terminal globally, operating both driverless and conventional trucks.
